Shri Rambhau Ruikar, a veteran labor leader of Nagpur, often criticized
Sangha work in his public speeches. P.P.Doctorjee slowly developed a very
good personal friendship with this man. One day, unexpectedly, P.P.Doctorjee
came to Shri Ruikar’s home and said, “I have come to you for a cup of tea and
some casual chitchat. Will you prepare the tea?”
“Gladly P.P.Doctorjee! It is my good fortune that a great man like you has
come to my humble abode”, said Shri Ruikar and offered the tea to
P.P.Doctorjee in a few minutes.
Sipping the tea, P.P.Doctorjee said, “Can I ask you a question?’ Shri Ruikar
assented, and P.P.Doctorjee said, “If Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was to
reappear today, and begin to rule over us, will this make you happy?”
Shri Ruikar replied, “This is a “no-brainer”. Unquestionably, I will be
supremely happy, and I imagine that the entire India will be too!”
Instantly, he said, “Well Sangha work is nothing but practice of the
principles exemplified by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. I take it then, that
all the objections you have voiced against Sangha in your speeches hitherto
fore, are simply irrelevant any more!”
Shri Ruikar was left speechless by P.P. Doctorjee’s quick wit.
