128. P.P.Doctorjee’s Humility overcame the most stubborn objections:

In a meeting at Indore (Central Provinces), an elder, respected local person posed a peculiar question to P.P.Doctorjee. He said: “Look, your work is extremely important in most parts which are under direct British rule. Indore is not directly under the British rule.  We are ruled by our Maharaja, as we are a princely state. Our problems are different from those you just described. Please don’t bother us; go and work in British-ruled areas!”

P.P.Doctorjee replied with great humility. He said: “Sir, it is true that Indore is ruled by our own Maharaja. You are fortunate to be in this state. But, please note that the Maharaja is not a sovereign. All of us, under the crushing British yoke, need to pull together to get complete freedom.  You are partially free, we are not. We beg you to consider us, your less fortunate brothers and sisters under total British tyranny. Your active fostering and nurturing of Sangha work will no doubt greatly enhance the cause of total freedom from the British.”

P.P.Doctorjee’s humble reply turned the elderly objector into ardent supporter of Sangha.
