118.  “Task must be finished” - P.P.Doctorjee’s motto

At 6:30 PM one evening, a swayamsevak brought P.P.Doctorjee, a request from a very senior Sangha Adhikari of Wardha City (40 miles from Nagpur). A taxi was required at Wardha very early next morning. To make it in time, the taxi would have to depart from Nagpur by 6.00 AM. A Nagpur swayamsevak volunteered to arrange for the taxi. But when he went to speak with the taxicab drivers, no one readily agreed to leave Nagpur so early next morning. The volunteer returned at 9.30 PM, sent a message to P.P.Doctorjee that the task could not be completed, and went to bed.

Around 3.00 AM, the volunteer, who was fast asleep in Sangha Karyalaya (office), woke up to find that P.P.Doctorjee was at the door! Surprised and dismayed, he opened the door and asked P.P.Doctorjee what the matter was. P.P.Doctorjee said: “Well, I came to tell you that the taxicab has been arranged. Please make sure that you and the worker from Wardha wake up in time.” The volunteer was dumb founded; while he had tried and failed, P.P.Doctorjee did not drop the ball; he went on trying with patience and perseverance, till the task at hand was completed.
