115. P.P.Doctorjee imparted
“Samskaaras” through no lectures, just good personal relationships: |
Movies,
mostly dedicated to pure short time entertainment, did not deliver any
Samskaaras. Yet many young swayamsevaks were fascinated by them. One day, all
went to a movie secretly, without letting P.P.Doctorjee know. That evening,
he could not meet any swayamsevak, and naturally he felt sad. Next evening, as the
shakha was in full swing, P.P.Doctorjee called up each swayamsevak one by
one, and asked where he had been the previous day. Each one said; (per their
secret agreement: I had been to my “moushi’s” (mothers’ sister’s) home. When
all had the same answer, P.P.Doctorjee realized that something was afoot
here. Smiling, he said: “Yesterday seems to have been a Universal “Moushi”
visit day!” The swayamsevaks realized that “the cat was out of the bag.”
Sorrowfully, they confessed to making up the false excuse, for seeing the
movie. P.P.Doctorjee did
not get upset nor did he start a moral sermon. He simply said: “Let us all
plan and go to see a movie next Sunday”. Swayamsevaks were extremely happy to
hear this; immediately the plan was made to go to the movies next Sunday
night after Shakha and dinner. Accordingly, the swayamsevaks gathered in
front of P.P.Doctorjee’s home in time. But deliberately, P.P.Doctorjee ate
his dinner too slowly, causing a delay. By the time they reached the first
movie theater, the tickets had been sold out. They met with the same fate at
the next movie theater. All were disappointed. P.P.Doctorjee then suggested
that the night was bright with moonlight, and that they could go for a walk
to a park. All agreed and in the park, lively games and conversations ensued.
Using the money saved by not going to the movies, snacks were bought, and it
was well-past midnight when the swayamsevaks went home happily.
