When P.P.Doctorjee returned
from a trip, swayamsevak who came to see him found two hand-held folding
fans. One of them had a picture of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and
the other one had a picture of a famous Marathi dramatist of early 1900s, who
always played women's roles, dressed as a woman (Shri Bala Gandharva). A
neighbor who was visiting P.P. Doctorjee, at this time asked a question out of
curiosity. He said: "Doctorjee, I can understand you buying a fan
with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's picture. But how can you explain
buying a fan with Shri Bala Gandharva dressed as a woman?"
P.P. Doctorjee smiled and
asked him back: "Can you guess what the reason could be? After some
thought, the visitor said "No, Please tell me".
P.P. Doctorjee, still
smiling, said: "I bought these two fans since they accurately depict the
condition of Bharateeya Society of spanning across 300 years". One with
Chhatrapati Shivahi Maharaj shows the glorious, victorious, morally upright
Bharat, whereas the one with the man dressed as a woman shows the Bharat of
today."
Even in simple things, P.P.
Doctorjee had a way of spreading his message.
