102. Doctorjee was Sick...

In 1940, P.P.Doctorjee was sick and he had been ordered compulsory bed-rest.  Since his backbone was severally injured, the doctors’ orders were very strict – he was not allowed even to move or roll over in bed.

Even so, when I went to see him, he stood up.  He had then a fever of 102° F.  He made arrangements for tea for me.  He asked me to participate in the Sangha Shiksha Varga (Training camp).  In such a state, I could never imagine that he himself would visit the camp. Nevertheless, he did and gave a brief Bouddhik (lecture) to the Swamyamsevak campers.  Needless to say, I was dumbfounded.

Such relentless, hard work broke down his otherwise sound health in the end.  However, his diamond-hard determination and will power had long since cut off any self-motive to conserve his health or spare his body!

Narrated by Shri Bachcharaj Vyas (He was an advocate in Nagpur, a Swayamsevak for most of his life.  He also was member of Mumbai Legislative Council for some time.
