2. The Rejection of Laddus (Sweets):

As a school boy of about 9 years of age, Keshava threw away the laddus,  he had been given at school, to celebrate 60 years of Queen Victoria's reign. Abaji asked him why he did that and why he was sad, instead of eating the laddus and  being merry, like the rest of his classmates. Keshava said: “ I don't like to celebrate the anniversary of a foreign regime that imposed slavery upon our country ".
